Every City Where You Can Rent a McLaren, Ranked

McLaren is the brand that car people rent. Not the Instagram crowd — the people who actually care about throttle response, chassis balance, and how a car communicates through the steering wheel. With 149 listings in our directory, McLaren is the sixth most available exotic car to rent. But availability varies wildly by city, and some markets are dramatically better than others for getting behind the wheel of a 720S or Artura.

Why McLaren?

Before the rankings, let's address why McLaren occupies a different space than Lamborghini or Ferrari in the rental world. Lamborghini is the attention car — the one you rent when you want strangers to film you. Ferrari is the status symbol — the prancing horse badge carries decades of cultural weight. McLaren is neither of those things.

McLaren is the car you rent when you want to drive. The 720S produces 710 horsepower from a twin-turbo V8, hits 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, and has a hydraulic suspension system that makes it feel planted at any speed. The Artura is their plug-in hybrid — 671 horsepower, lighter than you'd expect, and surprisingly refined for daily driving. The GT is the grand tourer — more comfortable, more trunk space, still devastatingly quick.

Most people who rent a McLaren come back and rent one again. The same isn't always true for Lamborghini.

The Rankings

1. Los Angeles

LA tops the list for McLaren availability, and it's not hard to see why. The canyon roads north of Malibu — Mulholland Highway, Decker Canyon, Encinal Canyon — are among the best driving roads in America. A McLaren 720S on Mulholland on a Tuesday morning is as close to a religious experience as driving gets. Multiple fleet operators carry McLarens here, and the 720S is the most commonly available model. Expect $1,500–$2,500/day.

2. Miami

Miami has strong McLaren availability, though most people here gravitate toward Lamborghini for the aesthetic. That's actually good news for you — McLarens are sometimes available on short notice when everything else is booked. The driving roads aren't great (South Florida is flat and congested), but for a cruise down Collins Avenue or a run out to the Keys, a McLaren GT is perfect. $1,400–$2,200/day.

3. Scottsdale

This is the sleeper pick. Scottsdale has excellent McLaren availability relative to its size, and the desert highways outside town — particularly the route up to Sedona via I-17 and AZ-179 — are spectacular. Empty roads, sweeping curves, dramatic scenery. If I could rent a McLaren in any US city purely for the driving, I'd pick Scottsdale. $1,300–$2,000/day.

4. Las Vegas

Vegas has strong supercar rental infrastructure, and McLaren benefits from that. The appeal here is the drive to Red Rock Canyon or out toward Valley of Fire — both offer stunning desert landscapes and excellent roads. Avoid the Strip itself; traffic makes any supercar pointless. $1,400–$2,400/day.

5. Dubai

Dubai's McLaren availability is solid, and prices are typically lower than the US — expect AED 3,500–5,000/day ($950–$1,360 USD). The drive from Dubai to Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah (the UAE's highest mountain) is an increasingly popular route for supercar renters. Hotel delivery is standard. Be aware of speed cameras — they're everywhere and fines are steep.

6. Houston / Dallas

The Texas cities have McLaren options, but the driving experience is limited by flat terrain and highway-heavy infrastructure. If you're renting purely for the experience of driving a McLaren — the sound, the acceleration, the way it changes direction — you'll enjoy it anywhere. But you won't find the winding roads that let a McLaren truly shine. $1,200–$2,000/day.

7. New York

McLarens exist in the NYC rental market, but driving one in Manhattan is an exercise in frustration. If you're renting here, plan to head north — the Palisades Interstate Parkway and Bear Mountain are within 90 minutes and offer genuinely good driving roads. $1,500–$2,500/day, though mileage restrictions may limit your range.

8. London

London has McLaren availability (fitting, since McLaren's headquarters are in Woking, Surrey). But city driving is expensive and miserable — congestion charges, ULEZ fees, and traffic make it pointless. Rent for a day and head to the Cotswolds or the Welsh borders. Expect £1,200–£2,000/day ($1,530–$2,560 USD).

9. Atlanta

Atlanta's McLaren options are more limited, but the drive north to the Blue Ridge Mountains — particularly the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap — is one of the best driving roads on the East Coast. It's a commitment (about 2.5 hours each way), so check your mileage allowance. $1,300–$2,000/day.

10. Sydney / Melbourne

McLaren hire options exist in both Australian cities, though availability is tighter than the US market. The Great Ocean Road out of Melbourne is world-class — 150 miles of coastal curves that feel like they were designed for a mid-engine sports car. Sydney's Royal National Park drive is shorter but equally fun. AUD 3,000–4,500/day ($1,930–$2,890 USD).

Which McLaren Should You Rent?

720S: The one to get. More power, more drama, more memorable. This is the car that makes grown adults giggle. If it's available, book it.

Artura: The newest option. Hybrid power means instant torque and a surprising electric-only mode for parking and low-speed driving. A more modern experience, slightly less raw than the 720S.

GT: The comfortable one. More trunk space, softer ride, still very fast. Best choice for longer drives or if you're sharing with a passenger who values comfort.

Whatever you pick, bring your own sunglasses and a good playlist. McLaren's butterfly doors and dihedral glass make for a greenhouse that lets in a lot of sun. And skip the Bluetooth — the engine note is the soundtrack.
