Supercar Rental Prices Compared: US vs Dubai vs London vs Sydney
I've rented the same car in multiple countries, and the price differences are staggering. A Lamborghini Huracán that costs $1,800/day in Miami might be half that in Dubai. Here's a real breakdown of what you'll actually pay across the world's biggest exotic car rental markets.
Lamborghini Huracán EVO: The Global Benchmark
Every rental market has Huracáns, making it the easiest car to compare apples-to-apples.
United States (Miami/LA/Vegas): $1,500–$2,500/day USD. Miami tends to be priciest because demand is year-round. LA and Vegas are slightly cheaper outside peak season.
Dubai: AED 3,000–4,500/day (roughly $820–$1,225 USD). Yes, it's significantly cheaper. We'll get into why.
London: £1,000–£1,800/day (roughly $1,280–$2,300 USD). But that's before the hidden costs — more on that below.
Sydney: AUD 2,200–3,500/day (roughly $1,400–$2,250 USD). Australians say "car hire," not "rental," and the market is smaller, so prices stay high.
Rolls-Royce Ghost: Luxury Sedan Comparison
United States: $1,000–$1,800/day USD. Houston and Atlanta tend to be cheapest due to high supply.
Dubai: AED 3,500–5,500/day ($950–$1,500 USD). Again, cheaper than the US for the same car.
London: £800–£1,500/day ($1,025–$1,920 USD). Popular for chauffeur hire, which changes the pricing dynamic.
Sydney/Melbourne: AUD 2,500–4,000/day ($1,600–$2,570 USD). Limited availability — Melbourne and Sydney each have around 15 listings total across all makes, so Rolls-Royce options are slim.
Ferrari F8 Tributo: The Performance Pick
United States: $1,800–$3,000/day USD. Strict mileage caps (75–150 miles/day) with $5–$10/mile overage.
Dubai: AED 3,500–5,000/day ($950–$1,360 USD). More generous mileage allowances (250–300 km/day typical).
London: £1,500–£2,500/day ($1,920–$3,200 USD). The most expensive market for Ferrari rentals.
Sydney: AUD 3,000–4,500/day ($1,930–$2,890 USD). Very limited availability — you may need to book weeks in advance.
Why Is Dubai So Much Cheaper?
Three reasons, and they're all straightforward:
Oversupply. Dubai has an enormous number of rental companies competing for tourist dollars. With 15 companies in our directory alone, price competition is fierce. Operators run lean margins and make it up on volume.
No import duties on luxury cars. The UAE doesn't charge the 25%+ tariffs that the US, UK, and Australia do. A dealer's cost for a Huracán in Dubai is dramatically lower than in London or Sydney, so rental companies can charge less and still profit.
Year-round tourism. Dubai doesn't have an off-season the way Miami or London does. Consistent demand means consistent fleet utilization, which keeps per-day costs down.
London's Hidden Costs Will Shock You
London looks comparable to the US on sticker price, but it's actually the most expensive market once you factor in extras:
Congestion Charge: £15/day ($19 USD) just to drive in central London.
ULEZ Fee: Most exotic cars aren't ULEZ-compliant, adding another £12.50/day ($16 USD).
Parking: Central London parking runs £10–£30/hour. A day of driving and parking can easily add £100+ ($128 USD) on top of the rental.
Fuel: Petrol is roughly £1.55/litre — a Huracán with an 83-litre tank costs about £129 ($165 USD) to fill. That V10 won't get you far.
When you add it all up, a "£1,200/day" Huracán rental in London actually costs closer to £1,400–£1,500/day ($1,790–$1,920 USD) with city driving.
Australia: Small Market, High Prices
Australia's exotic car hire market is concentrated in Sydney and Melbourne (15 listings each in our directory). The small market means less competition, and import costs are brutal — the Luxury Car Tax adds 33% on top of the already-high import price. Rental operators pass those costs straight through.
The upside? Australian hire companies tend to be more relaxed about mileage. Many offer 200–300 km/day included, and the driving — particularly the Great Ocean Road out of Melbourne — is spectacular. If you're going to pay a premium, at least you'll have somewhere genuinely incredible to drive.
Where Should You Rent?
If price is your primary concern, Dubai is the clear winner. You'll pay 30–50% less than the US for the same car, with more generous mileage and free hotel delivery as standard.
If you want the best driving experience, rent in Sydney or Melbourne and head out of the city. The roads are emptier, the scenery is world-class, and you'll actually get to use the car.
If you're in the US, Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta tend to offer the best value. Miami and LA charge a premium because they can — everyone wants to drive a Lamborghini down Ocean Drive.
London? Rent for the evening or a specific event. Full-day city driving makes no financial or practical sense.
